Why Study Abroad? As a Student interview
Why Study Abroad? As a Student interview
If you grew up in Sweden and lived here your entire life, you'd
think that one thing is normal and there's one way of living life, and you move
to a completely different place and you realize that, there's so many different
realities and just so many different ways of looking at life, and living life.
My name's Sofia, I'm 31 years old. I am from Sweden and Istudied in Los Angeles.
I studied directing at the American Film Institute, I Googled
film schools in the States, I wanted to go to a place where the best people in
the world were, at film.
I had no idea what to expect, It's a completely different
culture in the States. I was wondering what that would be like and if I would
like the people, because that's why I went there was because I wanted to meet
people like me, and were good at making films, and I was a little bit worried
that I wouldn't fit in, or that they would be totally different.
Everyone was so positive! I just remember sitting there and
just feeling really at home, and just loving everyone, just looking around, I like
living in a different country, it's nice.
I mean, it broadens your mind, you get to meet people that are
different, from different cultures, and it broadens your horizons a little bit
to understand other people and yourself.
Yes! I would recommend anyone to study abroad.
It's easy, there is a system, you don't have to be afraid.
There are people who are going to help you. The colleges are used to
international students so they have a system.
They will tell you exactly what you will need, and they will
make sure that you have it, and you'll have people to ask. You're finally going to meet people who are
just like you.
